- 8 cups mini marshmallows (16 ounces)
- 7 cups Rice Krispies cereal (7 ounces)
- ½ cup butter (4 ounces), salted or unsalted
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or line with parchment paper.
- Melt the Butter: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium-low heat. For a richer flavor, brown the butter until golden and aromatic.
- Melt the Marshmallows: Add the marshmallows to the melted butter. Stir continuously until about 75% of the marshmallows are melted. Remove from heat and continue stirring until smooth.
- Combine with Cereal: Gradually mix in the Rice Krispies cereal, folding until all pieces are evenly coated.
- Press into Pan: Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan. Lightly press into an even layer using a buttered spatula or wax paper, taking care not to compress too firmly.
- Cool and Slice: Let the mixture cool at room temperature for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- Use fresh marshmallows and cereal for the best texture.
- Brown the butter for a nuttier flavor, or add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract for extra depth.
- If your treats harden, place them in a sealed container with a slice of bread to restore softness overnight.
