Quick & Easy Rice Krispie Treats Recipe for Busy Bakers

These classic, gooey rice krispie treats are a nostalgic childhood favorite. They are quick and easy to make, taking just 15 minutes to prepare. With simple ingredients like marshmallows and Rice Krispies cereal, these no-bake treats are perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth, even on the busiest days.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Instructions

  • Prepare your equipment: Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with butter or non-stick cooking spray, or line with parchment paper.
  • Melt the butter and marshmallows: In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Add the marshmallows, stirring to coat them in the melted butter. Microwave the marshmallows for 30 seconds, stir, and repeat until fully melted (about 1 minute total for mini marshmallows).
  • Combine with Rice Krispies: Pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the Rice Krispies cereal in a greased mixing bowl. Stir vigorously to coat the cereal evenly with the marshmallow mixture.
  • Press into the pan: Using a buttered spatula or your hands (coated with non-stick spray), gently press the mixture into the prepared pan. Do not press too hard, or the treats will become too dense.
  • Cool and cut: Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for 30 minutes to an hour before cutting them into squares.

Notes

  • If you prefer, you can use a muffin tin for portioned treats instead of pressing the mixture into a pan.
  • For a richer version, you can add up to ½ cup of condensed milk to the marshmallow mixture.
  • Use mini marshmallows for quicker melting and a smoother texture.
